Having our first Giveaway! Visit us on Facebook

We tried a gift box die from Tonic Studio yesterday for the first time. These are usually the colors I pick to test a design, bright and flashy. The design is so beautiful, and as I was posting the pictures to Facebook we decided this could make a nice finished product giveaway.  (The design, not this particular color combo necessarily).

Head over to Facebook to give color suggestions and enter the giveaway!

I hope you can help make this a fun and interactive venture. This is our very first giveaway and we are very excited to see how it goes!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you on Facebook!

No Scrap Left Behind!

Hello fellow crafters and visitors! I bet at least some of you are of the mindset that nothing should be wasted. Well thinking along those lines, as I often do......, I decided to save remnants of cardstock that I had cut diecut snowflakes from. A few days ago I was looking at these and decided to dive in and use them to create these cards.

What we created were several cards with a glitter background, and a few shaker cards. Here are a few pictured steps in creating a shaker card.

So....don't just toss those scraps! You never know what fun creation you could come up with!!!

Completing One Sheet Wonder cards.

Hello friends and fellow crafters! Please enjoy this video as cards were assembled from pieces compiled using the one sheet wonder templates and instructions described in the last few posts.
Took us a while to finish the video for this post. Editing for this new video adventure has been a learning experience to say the least. We are a determined bunch in all ventures we undertake, and will persevere!
It is exciting to begin to share our creative ideas and projects with you in this way.

Please leave a comment! Let me know if you would like any information about the napkin technique or the one sheet wonder templates.
Happy crafting!

First Video Blog Post!

Okay crafty friends, HeatherBCrafty here to introduce our first video blog. A bit rough around the edges, but we must start somewhere, right?!?

This video shows a few results of our previous post happenings. As you will soon see this video captured some mishap uses and a newly created one sheet wonder called cutting out the rectangles.

Eh, hope you are at least amused by our first attempt at a video! It is a short one at least...

More to come on using the one sheet wonder that Bestie brought over along with the additional templates and instructions we came up with!

Please leave comments and suggestions. Help is always appreciated.

Components and Instructions complete! Assembly begins...

A new card activity started when a friend and fellow crafter, who for now will remain nameless because I did not asked her yet if I may use her name, told me about a project she had worked on a few years ago. For blog purposes she will be called my Bestie.

My Bestie acquired a one sheet wonder (OSW) several years ago and we wanted to try the pattern out with some stamping. Now, if you have never heard of a one sheet wonder, it is a pattern of lines placed onto a sheet of cardstock that when cut out will make up several cards (usually 4 1/4" X 5 1/2") when assembled in different ways.  Here is a picture of the OSW we used. Notice the numbered sections; these numbers correspond to the number card it will create. This OSW creates 10 cards.

We printed this template onto our cardstock then stamped away. Oh! Did we have fun! The design can be so random because you are really just filling up the page like you would a background. I unfortunately did not take a picture of the finished stamped page before we cut and made the cards. However, I do have pictures of the cards the Dingman's made. I hope to get pictures of my Bestie's creations as well. Her stamping was gorgeous!

No sentiments yet.

Note that the stamps we used were from Stampin Up- Heartfelt Thanks and Roses in Winter. The embossed images were made using Creative Expressions Sue Wilson folder- Rambling Blossoms.

Now, because I really liked creating these cards and how pretty they turned out, I decided to create more sets for a show coming up. But, as you will soon figure out, the creative minds around here are always messing with techniques and design. So, of course, we changed things up a bit. We used a napkin technique to create several OSW.
These are the napkins used. Let us know if you would like a tutorial on the technique. Could be a future post if there is interest.

Also, because directions were not clear on assembly of the cards once the OSW template was cut (and really, isn't that where us crafters thrive...creating!?!), and Bestie had all the printed directions she knew about on hand, I decided to create in-depth directions.

This may seem like to much for some, but for us the work now makes it easier for the future. We have 4 templates now. The original OSW, an Embossed template to use for both contrast colors, a color A plain sheet template, and a color B plain sheet template. We can either copy the additional templates onto cardstock and cut, or follow the measurements to cut.

Now we come to the title and point of this post! After making the one sheet wonders from the napkins, creating more detailed templates and directions, (Which includes an additional card, woo hoo!), and cutting out components (which are the results of the embossed and plain paper templates), we are now READY to ASSEMBLE!

You may notice some creative design changes in that picture. Yep! Crafting prerogative... dealing with foe paws....etc.

A side note worth mentioning when working with one sheet wonders. Let your imagination run wild not only when creating the cards (maybe you use stickers, ribbons, twine, brads, cotton balls, candy wrappers....), But also be creative with what you use to create the OSW! (Candy wrapping, wrapping paper, decorative papers, foil, all types of embossing, stamping, napkins....etc)

More to come as the assembly happens.

Thank you SO much for stopping by!

We are back in action!

Hi all, sorry for our absence. I have still been crafty...but not been good with sharing. Fixing that now!!
I have also been learning something new and will soon share that!

First I'll share some Valentine's day fun. Here are some cards that were created.

Next are some note cards created by transferring photos. These photos were taken at Grand Lake in Colorado; a favorite family vacation spot. Transferring photos is a fun technique where you use copied or laser printed photos. The toner from these types of images is able to transfer onto different items. Many videos can be found about this process and I encourage everyone to look into them! I did mine in black and white, added them to cardstock which was then distressed with Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap distress ink by Ranger.

Hope you enjoyed this little tidbit. Hint into what I am learning can be found in a new blog that I am now following! (*wink* thanks Christy!!)
